We almost got blown away, and ate pumpkins...

Yesterday morning when I got up and went into the kitchen to make coffee, I glanced outside at the thermometer, as I do every morning. I looked away and then pressed start on my coffee grinder when I stopped and realized what I had seen... I looked again. Huh? This is not typical November weather. Typically for the past week or so, it's been about 40 degrees Fahrenheit.

I finished getting the coffee started and took the dogs outside for their morning pee. Nope the thermometer was right, it felt like spring. The wind was howling, literally through the trees. It sounded like a prehistoric creature was getting ready to come out and eat us.

It wasn't bothering the animals however. When I got up to the barnyard, Izzie was relaxing and enjoying the breezy warm morning, and Max & Flav were out like usual... morning is their main time to sleep and rest up after a long night of keeping everyone safe from coyotes, wolves, bears, fisher cats, raccoon's, prehistoric monsters in the forest....

Everyone was ready to come outside too, so they were not alarmed by the strong winds. If it was snowing or raining, they would have refused to come out of their pens...

Brina and the turkeys decided they were not interested in the hay, they wanted to follow me around just in case I was going to do something interesting...

Brina: Well mom, what are we going to do now?

Brina: Can we eat some cookies? I could really eat a cookie right now...

Turkeys: Actually, we could really use a cookie right now too....

After my chores were finished for the morning, it started to cloud up. My pumpkins were about done after being hit with a frost, so I figured I better let everyone enjoy them while they were still good....

Barnaby: Maybe if I hit it with my head, it will break open... just wait, Bucket, wait, I'll do it!

Bucket: I'll do it myself. You just bite into it like this...

Barnaby: I try to impress her, and she just pushes me out of the way...

Turkey: Oops, I think she is taking a picture...

Turkey: Please, get my good angle...
Me: Ah, could you move over?

Horace: Hmm, smells OK but I don't think I want to eat it... If the goats like it, there must be something wrong with it.

Bucket: I'm not sharing, so don't even ask!

Brie: I'll whack you turkey! Get outta my way!
Turkey: you think I'm afraid of you? Please....

This is what you call a turkey pumpkin feeding frenzy.

and this is what you call, goats trying to get through the turkey feeding frenzy.

Mmmmm pumpkin....

Pumpkin is Buckets favorite thing of all time... next to watermelon, carrots, and apples...

Max: I'm not getting involved in this...

Turkeys: thank you for holding this for us...
Me: please don't eat my fingers...

Lou & Dew: we are not getting involved in this mess! These animals are so uncivilized!

Douglas: You want me to fold ALL of this?

The deer were pretty spooked yesterday from the wind, but our fawns and doe shopped up, but just the three of them.

There were almost waves in our beaver pond!

In the evening we decided to make a run out and check our trail cameras to see if we caught anything... and sure enough we did.

On one of our roads we found these tracks... these...

BEAR tracks! We got a picture of him too. We got a few good pictures because everyone is stirred up from the hunting, the shooting, the men in the forest, and the dogs running loose. We caught a few interesting things, which I'll share later... As for the bear, we tracked him and guess which way he headed? Straight to the house.

Right now, I'm off to the dentist! Yikes.

I had hoped to share these pictures yesterday but because of the wind, our satellite Internet was down all day, and all night. I'm glad it's back... at least for now!

Okay, I hope the bear doesn't make a house call!

The wind was crazy at our house on Sunday. We went fishing and it was white capping.

Our sheep love pumpkins. None of mine grew this year, so I begged and borrowed from people after Halloween. Great pictures, thanks for sharing.
