The moon and some news

It's been a while since we've seen a moon like that... August is bringing us some darkness. Although we still have a lot of light, by 11:30 - midnight, it's pretty dark outside.

We've both been pretty sick with the flu. I caught it a few days ago, and I've pretty much been in bed ever since. We managed to not get sick one time last winter, other than normal sinus stuff, and I was pretty proud of us... Until now. I'm kind of grateful I'm sick here though instead of at home, because at home I'd still have hours of chores to do even if I'm sick, as anyone with animals knows... just cause you are sick, doesn't mean everyone doesn't need to be fed.

The dogs, well, they need to be fed but that's about it. I've never seen a pair of lazier dogs in my life. That is, unless they also have the flu.

Tomorrow Kevin is going to head into Fairbanks alone to get the truck fixed and run errands. He's still recovering but has to go to meet the appointment for the truck. I'm going to stay in Tok with the dogs and rest, I'm not up to making the trip at all.  Hopefully soon, this flu will back off because I've got preserving to do and I'm so over it.

But a bit of good news to share, which I've been meaning to for a while. I'm so excited to share that I'll have my first article in Backwoods Home magazine! Backwoods Home has been my favorite magazine for the past 7 years - it's a wonderful magazine about sustainable living, raising animals, gardening, building, and everything you really want and need to know. I'm so excited they actually chose one of my articles to share with their readers!
