Today's walk and other pictures
It's been cold and rainy the past three days, so today was a bit of a relief even though it was cold. The animals had a much nicer time outside today than they did yesterday.
Butternut's cute little guy! I think this is the first picture of him on the blog. He's as big as Bo and he's over a week younger!
Bean wants you to see how cute her little guy is, he is also Bo's best buddy in the barn to play with
He's got such a cute face.
This is what it looked like yesterday outside:
It rained. It hailed. It snowed. It rained. It hailed. And so on.
Later this afternoon some blue sky peaked out and the wind was down. I took it as good reason to go for a walk with some of the boys. So Bo came down from the barn with me to the house to get Norman and Douglas for a walk. Bo has been to the house several times since his move to the barn. He walks right up the steps, comes inside and it's like he never left.
I learned something today. Douglas is half squirrel. He was digging in the ground and I wondered what for... acorns apparently! He dug up four. And they were not lying on the ground, they were buried!
Doug trying to EAT his treasure with me yelling "drop it!" which he did. He knows that command very well since he's like a toddler and likes to put things in his mouth
This chipmunk came out to see what all the fuss was about
After the dogs came inside for their supper, Bo and I headed back up to the barn....
Before I wander off to find out what to make for dinner, and to have a drink on the porch with the dogs since the sun has come out for a few moments, here are some pictures of a hike Kevin and I took a few days ago, before the snowy rainy weather.
We actually found flowers! The first wild ones that have shown up in the forest.
And I found several new spots full of Strawberry plants. I'll have to watch this place like a hawk this summer for berries. I have several "hot spots" to keep an eye on. Of course everyone else in the forest will be keeping an eye on the same spots! But maybe I'll get a little bit.

Chunks of Quartz...we have lots of it here, and Mica. We even have holes where the old people were mining for it at one time.
and while I was taking pictures, I looked higher up in the tree and saw there was another one there!
Here is what Kevin's poor road looks like thanks to the beaver, and the fact the tractor was gone for a few days this week getting some welding done...
Last but not least, we had a strange visitor to our pond at the house the other day. He's never been here before and I'm not sure who he is.
Off to enjoy the late afternoon sunshine (although the wind is freezing) in my coat and hat with the dogs for a few minutes. Gotta take what you can get right now!
