Today was the first day...

Photobucket

I was able to eat lunch outside! The breeze is cool but the sun is warm and I was able to sit outside on the deck with the dogs and eat lunch this afternoon which was lovely. Even though I had four eyes starring at my lunch.

Photobucket

Norman couldn't help soak up the sun.

Photobucket

We had a few other sun worshipers up in the barnyard today...

We also got our first egg today finally!

Bo finally moved to the barn. I think it was actually harder on me and Kevin then it was on Bo! He loves all the other animals, especially Max, and Max loves him. He's having a lot of fun. We miss him in the house, but he was starting to climb the furniture and jump off and the risk of him hurting himself was too great. He needs to be able to really tear around and get that energy out with the other animals.

While Max, Bo, and, I were standing at the barn this morning, I was having my coffee and Bo was playing, we saw something that took away a lot of Bo's innocence, and I think some of mine too.

Please note, what you about to see contains adult content! We saw this:

and while I tried to shelter Bo's young eyes.... he was very curious about it.

I've seen turkey fooling around going on before, but I didn't realize at the end, Toms get dumb too, like most other ah, animals, like male rabbits for example. He fell all over himself, was walking sideways, couldn't get his wings out from under his feet. It was quite comical. And just because me and Snick have a love-hate relationship, I am sharing this most embarrassing photo with you of him trying to regain his composure.

Photobucket

Bo absolutely loves Max. It's so cute. He likes Flavious too but for some reason he thinks Max is his best buddy.

Bo took a break from playing to have a bottle...

Photobucket

Izzie is so pleased with all the babies around. She loves little goats. The little lamb is not nearly as interesting to her. I think it's because when she came home last year as a week old calf, she came home with four little Saanen buckling's, so she grew up with them as babies.

Sammy was wondering what this little lamb was...

Photobucket

And the lamb was wondering what this water stuff was...

Photobucket

Bo just wanted to play with anyone who would play with him...

Photobucket

Maybe Hilda?

Photobucket

Nope. So he decided he might as well just play by himself.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Then Max decided he needed a belly rub...

Photobucket

And Bo wondered why Max was on his back...

Photobucket

Max was wondering why the goat is climbing all over him and no one is rubbing his belly! No worries... he got his rub.

Photobucket

Kevin stopped by to show us an antler he had just found...

Photobucket

And we realized Snick was on the wrong side of the fence. He had flown over the fence to fight off a Wild Tom turkey who was coming around looking for Maggie.

Photobucket

So I ran him down the road back to the gate...
Photobucket

And he ran like crazy back to Maggie!

Quite the eventful day in the barnyard. Butternut had a healthy buckling on Wednesday, so kidding has offically come to a close. 4 bucklings and 2 doelings this year. We'll have more kids hopefully in May, bottle babies.  We shopped yesterday for our fence for our new chicken yards, the garden, and new goat pasture.

Today we bought our onion sets which we can plant soon. It's still cool here but they'll like that. Everything else will have to wait.

Please don't forget to visit all our friends at Farm Friends Friday!

The goats all look like they are smiling while they soak up the sun.
Love your lunch.... sad that you didn't let the dogs dine with you!
You should write a children's book featuring Bo - he is precious! Well...so are the other animals!!
Snick's expose is a hoot!

Bo looks like he is the star of the barnyard. He is so cute the way he plays with everyone.

Are you going to be able to keep him? Will he be a buck or wether?

I didn't know the turkey Tom's would react like that, strange.

Thanks everyone! Dreaming, that would be so cute, a book about Bo's adventures :)

Thanks Leigh :) Nothing cuter than babies!

LOL I'm sorry Norma! Don't spread that around too much hehehe..

You had to ask Chai Chai! lol. We shouldn't keep him really, we do not need another boy, and I'm not allowed any more wethers, because I have three already. However it's been hard for us to keep focused on our plan, especially having three other bucklings to sell, and Bo being, well, Bo. I think he'll stay. We are considering keeping him as our second buck since he's only related to one doe here. We've been talking of keeping two bucks, although I was planning on getting a Nubian. But the Sannens throw good milk genes and really nice personalities. So we'll see, but I think he'll be staying. :)

I didn't know turkeys did that either! It was nearly as bad as a male rabbit who screams and falls over, I was surprised the turkey was falling over and stumbling too!

That kid is just so cute bouncing around!
Do you get fertilized eggs from your turkeys? I was always under the impression that Toms needed a 'harness' for breeding the females because they are to heavy.
